After attaching the butcher block top to the OSB sub structure, a portion was cut out to allow for a sink. Since wood and water are not the best of companions, a small area around the sink was poured in a special mix of concrete. A foam cut out for the sink is poured in place and removed after the concrete cures, leaving a perfectly sized opening for a black enamel undermount sink. A small hole for the faucet is visible in the top portion of the concrete.
